| Dr. Kathleen Cooney began her life in Michigan, where she developed a love for the family pets. These included dogs, cats, guinea pigs, birds, and horses. In 1995, she began the educational journey that would lead to veterinary medicine.
In the spring of 2004, Dr. Cooney graduated from the veterinary college at Colorado State University. That same spring, her family had to say goodbye to their 15 year old yellow lab McKenzie. McKenzie passed peacefully in the front yard under the aspen tree and it was then she knew just how important it was to be at home. Shortly after, Dr. Cooney and her family relocated to Grand Rapids Michigan where she practiced internal medicine and surgery at a progressive small animal clinic. It was there that she began performing in-home services for families, particularly for cancer patients.
After 2 years away, she and her family decided it was time to return to beautiful Colorado. Dr. Cooney began Home to Heaven in the fall of 2006. She has received an overwhelming welcome from the community and veterinary profession and looks forward to helping families of northern Colorado for many years to come. As of the fall of 2009, she is writing a book about euthanasia techniques to aid other veterinarians. She has learned a great deal in the past 3 years, having helped over 3000 families. Dr. Cooney was also recently appointed to the 2010 American Veterinary Medical Association's panel on euthanasia guidelines and recently completed the first Pet Loss Companioning certification program in the United States.
Dr. Cooney is honored to be doing what she does. She loves getting to know her clients, hearing their stories, and sharing in the beautiful experience of in-home euthanasia.

Dr. Michealle Hobler was born in North Carolina, but has since lived in many states, Colorado being her favorite and the one she considers home. Veterinary medicine has been a lifelong goal and thus her journey began in high school when she worked as a kennel manager for an animal clinic in Denver. She completed her undergraduate degree at Metropolitan State College of Denver in biology and chemistry, all the while working her way up the veterinary ladder serving as a receptionist, veterinary assistant, and veterinary technician.
She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in early 2010 at Colorado State University and is now excited to join her colleagues in this wonderful profession that enables veterinarians to both heal and relieve the suffering of their patients.
Her professional interests include hospice and end-of-life care, acupuncture, and internal medicine. When not working, Dr. Hobler enjoys reading, traveling, and crocheting. She also enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband Reid and their furry/scaly children, which include their Boston Terrier Petri, their Italian Greyhound C.C., their lovable cat Sinatra, and their water turtle Tonka.
